The Senior Program

Community Garden

Community Garden

Community Garden

Raised garden beds with thriving green leafy vegetables on a sunny day.

Our volunteers help to care for the community gardens located in front of the Roosevelt Neighborhood Center and on East Washington Street across from the Abundant Life church. These community gardens have been providing fresh herbs and vegetables to the community for years, while also serving as a space for arts and crafts activities, exercise programs, and senior field trips as part of our senior services.

Arts & Crafts

Community Garden

Arts and crafts provide our seniors with a wonderful opportunity to get creative. They enjoy various mediums, such as sewing, ceramics, and beadmaking, which are all part of our engaging senior services. Additionally, we are always exploring new ways to encourage creativity, including incorporating activities related to our community garden and organizing senior field trips. We believe that these arts and crafts activities, along with our exercise programs, help enhance the well-being of our seniors!

Exercise

Exercise programs are a fantastic way for our seniors to get active, and this new feature of the senior program also includes engaging arts and crafts activities, community garden initiatives, and exciting senior field trips. Our comprehensive senior services aim to promote both physical and social well-being.

Field Trips & Community Events

People gather outdoors for a community food event on a sunny day.

The seniors participate in various activities that connect them with the community, including engaging in arts and crafts and visiting the community garden. Some of the senior field trips feature exciting outings to the Farmers Market and JQ Dickinson Saltworks, along with opportunities to enjoy exercise programs.

Lunch & Transportation

Community gathering in a gymnasium with people dining at tables covered in colorful tablecloths.

We host our annual Heart and Soul Dip Dinner fundraiser at the end of February, which helps support our community garden and various senior services, including exercise programs and senior field trips. Volunteers and donations are welcomed.

Lunch is provided for the senior programs on Wednesdays and Thursdays, which include engaging activities like arts and crafts, exercise programs, and senior field trips. Special thanks to Trinity Lutheran Church for their generous contribution to the lunches. Transportation to these activities, as well as to our community garden, is also provided.
